U.S. Proposal

There is a movement afoot in both Canada and the United States which would allow cities and towns to repair and expand infrastructure, without increasing taxes. It is non-inflationary and would boost the economy. This proposal has recently been passed by city councils in Squamish B.C. and Kingston Ontario.

What is it? Very simply, we petition our federal government to direct the Bank of Canada to provide interest-free loans for infrastructure repairs and improvements. Eliminating interest payments will cut the cost of projects at least in half. The Bank of Canada has been used in the past as a catalyst for positive change. It issued money to allow Canada to escape the Great Depression, fight WWII, and lay the foundation for the best 25 years of the 20th century.

It is time for another war. A war against poverty, pollution, inadequate housing and our decaying infrastructure.
